Best OS and client for a Dell PowerEdge 2950 Server?

I have taken a year sabbatical from FAH, but, I'm ready to get back to it. I have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 Server with two quad core CPU's and 36GB of RAM. Should I just intall the desktop version of Ubuntu and go from there or has a lot change in the last year and there in a more efficient setup now?

I run my stuff on windows.. but it looks like a lot of people have been suggesting using Ubuntu as the overall best os for folding.. again, I have no direct experience with it, just what I've seen on here.

Running ubuntu will get you pretty much the best results you can. You might get a slight increase with ubuntu server if you have experience with linux otherwise it's best to stick to the desktop version.
