I think so, but it's funny because I'm not 100% sure! I mean, I'm just going by what I've seen the experts here on OCN say, and what they say is that it helps (or maybe "allows"? not sure) the solid state drive to run at its fullest potential provided that everything else is in order. What I mean by saying, "having everything else in order" is having it connected to the best SATA port (that is, avoiding the motherboard's own proprietary SATA port) and having AHCI mode enabled. On Intel systems, I would also add having Intel's Rapid Storage Technology driver installed as well.

Yep, that's right because the SSD's built-in controller (not to be confused with the SATA port controller) will still organize the fragments in the way that it is programmed to. In other words, it would be a waste of write cycles. Not only that, but defragging can only benefit hard drives due to the circular shape of the physical disk whereas solid state drives have a design where fragmentation is essentially the optimal organization. So the SSD's built-in controller is programmed to keep the fragments optimally organized in a special/different way, and that means that anything a the defragger tells the SSD to do really won't be done. The SSD will, in a sense, be lying to the OS.
Now, if hard drives had an onboard controller that would keep everything defragged, then we wouldn't need software for hard drives either. So, for this aspect alone, SSDs are a really cool advancement!

Yeah, I know how you feel. Were there a bunch of registry changes that you made? How did you do it? There might be ways to make this go quicker by having 'backups' in a sense.
Of course, you can also take screenshots. hehe :)

Sucks that my trail of HDD life pro ran out before I could figure out which one was it.
Oh, that's out of my league. I don't know much about RAID.
