Since when has Nintendo been about graphics. I can tell a lot of the people in this thread are either naive or just young enough that the earliest consoles they have is an xbox. Nintendo has never been about graphics, even all the way back to the NES. You know what they ARE about? Setting a standard in gameplay and innovating. Lightgun? Footpad? Saves on the game itself? Nintendo did it first. Multiple gamepad support on a single system? Nintendo did it first. Internet on a gaming console? Nintendo did it first (snes). Then look at the Wii, MS and Sony laughed at the whole idea of it. Now look at Microsoft and Sony, who did they get their ideas from? Nintendo.

Laugh all you want, but for your consoles, without Nintendo, it's a possibility console gaming wouldn't be where it is today.

Nintendo is the only console that offers experiences that I can't have on my PC.

Therefore for me it's the only relevant console choice.

I'll just say this:

Nintendo likes making things look nice. It's why if you've ever emulated most Wii [Some gamecubes ones too, see: Metroid Prime] exclusives in 1080p native, they look very good, but didn't require next gen visuals to do so.

Regardless, Nintendo has always been about classic art styles rather than realism.
EDIT: Why are news threads turning into vendetta threads?

Nintendo is really about milking nostalgia for whatever it's worth. Milking dead cattle would be another way to put it.

I think I'm more interested in this than the next Xbox or Playstation. I really liked how Netflix is on it and I would assume that Amazon Prime and their other services would be similar. Using it for media looks great. Plus Nintendo always has their games that they make great and which still do look nice. Their third party support this time around looks fairly good from what they've announced so far and for gamest that I would want to play and have really nice graphics, I have a computer to play them on. Wii U games even if they aren't as nice looking as the other new consoles will probably still be fun. The Wii U looks interesting. That touch screen controller will probably be useful for a internet browsing, not that internet browsing is all that important though.

Actually they have tried to move away from the days of ole but it causes backlash. They make what sells they are a business after all.

This is what happens....
Nintendo does something different they are gimmicky
Nintendo does something resembling the past they are re-hashing
Nintendo won't make a grey FPS Mario so they are kiddy
Nintendo won't follow the competitors so they are going out... (since 1989)
doh.gif

What people that follow them should know by now is...
1. They do as they please
2. Never count them out
3. Expect Quality

+1

Nintendo is a mainstay.

Like it or not, that milk from 'dead cattle, they keep trotting it out and it sells. Why? It appeals to kids. It appeals to families. It appeals to 'old bastards' like me who like to remember the fun they had in 1986 on christmas morning. Most importantly, it just plain fun. I'm a pc gamer. I do a majority of my gaming there. But when I just want to kill a half hour or so on the sofa; game a bit reclining with some Crown on ice; Zelda, Metroid and Mario are nice options.

I own every console made by Nintendo for 1 reason. Zelda and Metroid. Yep, I guess that milking they're doing is stupid. Find me someone else who makes a game as good as Zelda and I'll play it.

Wow, and I used to think the word "gamer" simply means a person who plays games. The graphics of the original Legend of Zelda is nowhere near as amazing as Skyward Sword, but does that fact disqualify it as a game in this day and age?
