Haven't posted on here in ages. Really hoping someone has some good input for my problem.
Been running Vista on my desktop for a while now on my OS drive, and running four 500GB Samsung hard drives in a RAID 5 configured through my motherboards RAID controller (nForce 590). After 3 years of abuse my computer really started to bog down, and I decided it was time to switch back to XP, because I needed it for streaming media.
So I go to install XP, and every time I try to install it I get the BSOD. After some trouble shooting I decided to disable RAID and see if it would work then. Try to install XP on the OS drive again after disabling RAID and voila it works XP gets installed without a hitch. I go back into the BIOS to reenable the RAID and nothing. It doesn't show up under XP at all.
Anyone have any idea what the issue is? I have 1.2TB of data on there so I'm really hoping there is a way to get everything up and running again. The drives for sure have not been formatted or anything. RAID has just been disabled and reenabled. The OS I keep on a separate drive entirely from the RAID. I have a gut feeling the RAID controller is junked and if that's the case would getting an identical motherboard do the trick of getting my RAID back up and running?
