Thread Starter
Threw a setup together for my brother-in-law as he is off to college in the fall and needs something to do homework on, edit video in ppro CS6/AE/PS etc ... and of course do some hardcore gaming biggrin.gif I donated the water cooling loop, motherboard, bluray drive, and some other odds and ends to the cause to keep his costs down, and we were able to snag a 6970 for $150, the HAF 932 Black edition for $85, and 8gb of Corsair Vengeance 1600 for $25, from a local OCN buddy - woot! The goal of this build is make something that is cost effective, stable, and reasonably fast. I tried to convince him to step up to an SSD (Crucial M4) and 32gb RAM (since he is going to film school and edits and does special effects) - but so far he is being reluctant to upgrade rolleyes.gif

Specs:
Asus M5A97 mobo
AMD FX8120 CPU@4.2ghz (all multiplier OC)
8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600
WD Caviar Black 750 HDD
LG Bluray writer w/ LightScribe
Saphire Radeon HD 6970 SE
Generic 650w PSU (it needs more...)
Corsair H60 loop + HWLabs Black Ice Pro 120mm rad w/ push/pull fan setup (not in pics) + Swiftech Micro reservoir (61*C MAX CPU socket temp/47*C MAX overall core temp w/ Prime95)

In the end we put all of this together for around $500(usd)!
