GTX 465 randomly underclocking and refusing to change

At some random point while my computer is on, my GPU decides to stay at low clock speeds and doesn't increase them when a game starts. The memory clock speed is the only one that manages to go up to 1603, but the shader and core clock stay at 405 and 203 respectively, when they should be much higher. My GPU never reaches above 55 C, as afterburner makes sure of that. I have not overclocked in any way and my 700W PSU is overqualified to power my old PC (Q9650 default clock and GTX 465). Only rebooting solves this issue until it happens again. Sometimes it takes a day for this to happen or even up to 4 days.

Your card is crashing. Time to replace/RMA it. Fermi runs hot as hell as it is.

But my GTX 465 never even goes above 55 C. If it was crashing, wouldn't it crash the games too? I've had the driver crash on me before and had the game either completely freak out, crash, or crash my PC altogether. With this it's only freezing my clock speeds at a specific speed and i can't lower them or increase them.

Doesn't matter. Cards fail. If your card is locking at a lower clock speed and not going anywhere, it has crashed. I have had cards that I didn't even touch and ran at 100% fan speed all the time die on me out of the blue with the same problem. Either try to RMA it or replace the card is the only way you are going to solve this issue sadly.

Your talking to someone who has had 10 cards either die or killed. >.>

Occam's Razor: Nvidia has always had issues with cards downclocking, it probably is not a broken card, the above poster is completely paranoid.
