Give it another year, then you'll be reading "Xbox/PS4 fastest growing platform ever... 100 million units of CoD sold on day 1!"

They didn't really. I found (on older consoles) they kinda kept things reasonably neutral in that regard. That's my point. GC/Wii took it to a new level to try and broaden the appeal, especially young kids - wii especially.

PC gaming is not cheaper then console gaming. Not even sure why people bother to argue the point.

1. Decent hardware *is* more expensive. A decent gaming PC is going to run you 600+ dollars on the low end. Let's be real if you want to build a good PC starting out with nothing to build off of you are going to want to put down a thousand dollars.

2. The software is the same price. People point to Steam like Best Buy doesn't have bargain bins, XBLA doesn't have it's own sales and Amazon isn't discounting console titles all the time. If you are a good shopper you can get software cheap. It's just easy to be a good shopper with steam.

Also the PS3/360 both have excellent console exclusive libraries and anybody missing out on them because of misplaced platform loyalty I feel bad for.

Please note that my post isn't speaking to the strengths of the PC platform because everyone here knows them. My point mainly is just that the price argument does not hold water.

Most people don't bother considering that you shouldn't compare the price of a PC to an Xbox/ PS3, you should compare it to the price of a console + the cost of their computer. With a gaming PC it's also what you use for surfing the internet, so you can't directly compare just a console and gaming PC.

Yep this stuff tends to run in cycles. When a console first releases the capability of the hardware is 'sorta' comparable to current PC hardware but given that most consoles want a 5+ year lifespan and PC tech advances so quickly the consoles can't remain competitive for long.

To the "PC gaming is expensive and people who say consoles are better simply can't afford it" argument I saw in this thread, PC gaming isn't much more expensive... Everyone has at least one computer at home for Facebook, skype, etc. How much would it cost to turn that PC in a gaming capable computer? Let's say a 7850, a new PSU and a decent case for cooling. That's about 350$. Last time I checked, a Xbox 360 was about 300$ for a decent bundle... PC gaming is so expensive! rolleyes.gif Especially with the cheaper games.

99% of console games: 60$+

How many times have I spent 60$+ for a PC game? Once for Battlefield 3. Otherwise, the average I spent was 10$ including AAA games like BFBC2.

Hey genius. Skyrim wont be in the bargain bin for probably 3 more years at best buy. I got it in DECEMBER for 30 dollars. You might not THINK steam and amazon sales are great. But they discount really good games all the time. Let me know when Gamestop Discounts a 2 month old BEST SELLING title 40% off (skyrim december 25th 2011)

Not really considering that steam/amazon/gamersgate etc. often discount relatively new titles. Bargain bin games in stores like best buy are usually old. Full priced releases are also around $10 cheaper on launch on the PC and if you're using steam you're most likely going to get a 10% discount on top of that, unless you were buying a CoD game.
