[MPC] Comcast Reportedly Prepping 305Mbps Broadband Tier To Compete With Verizon FiOS - Page 5

What's ridiculous is that we're paying $100+ a month for speeds that are available elsewhere for $10.

You know what I want? I want to be able to buy into the infrastructure, pay the marginal expense of extra routers/fiber up front and let my monthly bill be the actual ongoing cost of electricity, maintenance, and peerage plus a flat $5 a month in profit for the ISP.

Bandwidth is not the problem these days, traffic caps are. What good is a 305Mbps connection if you can only download 100 or 200gb in a month? It's only useful if it's unlimited, otherwise I fail to see the point with such high speed connections.

Cool, according to this, my 25 /4 will be upgraded to 50 / 8.

Doubled,

And my bill will go down 2-3$.

I love Comcast. They've always been good to me.

Still, most downloads max out around 2.0MB/s, because that extra .5Mb/s is speed boost tongue.gif

So I imagine my new download speeds will be 4.5Mbs

Still, a noticable improvement!

Ah, was reading another article in a tab and posted here:

Comcast is changing their blast and extreme 50 tiers in the northeast only. Blast is going to 50 download and extreme 50 goes to 105 download. Extreme 105 goes away and customers get a price decrease. No mention of upload speeds. This will happen within 90 days. Notification being sent out to customers.

Exactly. But hey, when you're the only game in town, you charge as much as you want because people have to pay it.

This is right. They're getting the system in place at the moment on their website, where you can see real time your data usage, but right now it is uncapped.

I find it funny you need to use data to get to the website to view your data usage.

Is this supposed to be a company wide thing or is it regional? I haven't heard anything from Comcast about this yet.
