This...is so stupid.

Yes, of course....the sequel, made years later, has more content?

Not like they could release it with less or the same, people would gripe...

This is normal. Diablo III has more unique enemy times, weapons, armors, all that, than Diablo 1 + 2 combined and yet it only gets a passing mention, but oh no, good old grand Torchlight II does it and they are the bestest ever.

I really can't stand Torchlight fans. They have the kind of attitude that Apple users have towards Window users.

Something about Diablo 3 being a huge turd. I have never tried Torchlight so I don't know if it's any good. But I am glad I got a refund for Diablo 3 along with several of my friends.

try the other way around

we aren't even comparing the generic quality of the 2 games here, but which company blocks or limits the functions of their product (the phone / the game) and tell its customers its for the better?

and HEY someone actually agrees rolleyes.gif

If you didn't say that last sentence, I would have kept my mouth shut.

I like the part where you forgot to mention that EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF TORCHLIGHT 1 WAS MODDABLE, and in TL2 it's gonna get better.

I cannot wait for the improved texture packs, custom maps/areas, new weapons, new equipment skins, new classes, new everything biggrin.gif

I think Torchlight 2 can definitely hurt Diablo 3 as long as the gameplay is tight. There is a lot of animosity against D3, even by those who are willing to buy it. If the game is tight, few will choose always online and RMAH over offline, LAN and mods. If the D3 user base takes a strong enough hit during T2's launch window. it could really effect D3's longevity.

T2 has the opportunity to become the new D2.

Heh that is a bold claim indeed. I bought TL1 on a whim (Winter sale), but after playing it for a couple hours, I left it and forgot it. And this is even with the nostalgic sounding Uelmen-made soundtrack.
Kinda pissed I missed the TL2 beta period, so I would be basically buying blind.

I really can't stand Torchlight fans. They have the kind of attitude that Apple users have towards Window users.

Proof or get out.

As someone who played the Diablo series from release day of the first through the 3rd, I will call you out on this. The fact that they removed runewords and the gem system as we knew it from Diablo 3 puts it behind Diablo 2 in possible number of items you could create. Additionally the crafting system in D3 is weaker than what was in D2, after they gimped it mid D3 beta. Just the fact that I could take a socketed sword in D2 and put rubies and emeralds in it with an ohm rune, should I decide, puts it ahead of D3.

As for maps, Diablo 3 uses a preset tile system, instead of randomly generating maps, so the possible number of configurations of the area to explore are a lot less as well. About the only improvement to map layout was the addition of "destructible" elements, which were a joke in themselves.

As for your last comment drawing comparison to Apple fans....

"I really can't stand Diablo III fans. They have the kind of attitude that Apple users have towards Window users".

See what I did there?

EDIT: Just using the number of runes in Diablo 2, which I believe were 33 total, you can create an insane number of items out of it. Just using 6 socket items as an example....

With 33 possible choices and using 6 of them, without allowing for repetition, you have a total possible combinations of 1,107,568. Now allow for repetition and you have a total possible combination of 2,760,681. Again, this is just with the 6 socket items, and while they don't all create special rune word items, they still create items with various stats.

If that happens, it's gonna make all those who signed the "D3 is too colorful petition" look even more silly tongue.gif
All that complaining about the rainbow Diablo, and to have those users flock to TL2 is just priceless.
