Installing 12.7beta with older Asus 8.863 display drivers?

So how exactly does one install CCC 12.7beta with older display drivers? I have done it before by chance with CCC 12.3, but I haven't been able to reproduce the same results. This all seems rather contrived, but it is neccessary in order to get GPU overclocking working on the Asus K53TA laptops.

Download 12.7 and click custom, then just install CCC.
If this fails, go into the folder called AMD on your C drive which is created when you first launch the installer. Look for a single .exe installer for the CCC application.

There is nothing in the custom installation that indicates CCC is seperate from the drivers. However Installing HydraVision seems to result in CCC showing up, but it still does not seem to work with older display drivers as launching CCC says that it is incompatible with older display drivers. OpenGL games run fine, but Direct3D games just get stuck on a black screen.

In the AMD install folder, the only exe's available are the following in various different folders, all of which only launch the normal installer:

InstallManagerApp
ATISetup

The best thing to do is email AMD and explain what it is your trying to do. I'm not even sure if it is entirely possible, but you have taken good steps for trying. Just see what AMD have to say.

Have you tried simply deleting the driver packages and leaving the rest of the install directory intact, or replacing the drivers with the ones you want to use?
