maybe my chip is just bit hotter, i'm considering buying a new one and selling this one.. or might try out that Indigo Xtreme themal paste. - looks a bit scary tho having to 'burn' it in by running prime without pump going
Seems about right.
My opinion below
Lots of people get lost in getting prime stable as if that proves anything. I don't think it proves anything, AIDA64 stress test might be more realistic test of the stability of your system.
There are two types of stress test to check overclocks. One: realistic tests. Two: un-realistic tests.
The two that fall into the un-realistic category are prime95 and linpack (linx/IBT).
Why are those two so un-realistic ? Well, look at the CPU power load when running linx/prime95. It usually loads out on my system at about 215-225W and can jump to 250W !!!!
Please show me one program that I'm going to use daily that will put that kind of load on this CPU.
I built this system as a 3D render/video encoder. When rendering the most intense scenes, my CPU never breaks 190W at 4.9Ghz. Same during the chimp challenge, my SB-E folded for 8 of the 10 days and never broke 190W (and never crashed either).
So now I ask a rhetorical question... Are you going to find the next prime number or use that thing ?
