Windows 8, for a desktop....worth it?

Hi,

I have been completely ignorant of Windows 8, as I believed it was purely a "touch screen" version of Windows 7.

However after some reading, I believe they have make some good changes for a regular user as well.

Whats the general consensus on OCN?

What sort of price is it for a fresh install in the UK? I can only find prices for Win 7 upgrades.

I haven't seen any prices for full retail yet, you'll have to wait closer to release.

hopefully they will have a pre-order offer like they did for Windows 7, it was something like £45 if you pre-ordered.

I will not go Win 8 for my desktop

Problems are...

Interfaces are changed a lot(There is no Start button), so it is pretty confusing.
And Compatibility issue.

At least in beta, It is compatible to most general programs, but BUMMER, I said general programs but that does not include games.

That means I will not get it.

Of course, there are some trade off. It is faster overall.
Internet Screen pops up faster, Zoom in better, boots up fast, and PDF reader will be included(default). Also, touch screen support,
and there is bunch of Metro UI stuff, which is useless for desktop user IMO.

I may recommend to install Win 8 for touch screen based Ultrabook or so on,
but not in Desktop.

I am not in UK, so I don't know the price.
