For reference, My old laptop ran it better than my old desktop..
Laptop: i7 720QM, 4GB DDR3, 5730M
Desktop: Q9400 @ 3.4GHz, 6GB DDR2, 2x 6850's overclocked..

It will run it. I'm playing the game right now.
And yeah my motherboard is terrible also
