Yeah, I know. I was just showing that it's not, which is quite obviously why. Mind you I haven't gotten any updates as of yet.. So I'll try that later.
I think we've all gotten from this that GTA IV was a really bad console port and it has and always will run bad on PC's. Mostly because it just doesn't use half of the computer and secondly because for what it looks like it's really badly optimised to use half of my CFX setup.. A single 6850 can run BF3 on medium and that looks heaps better.

My near-dead 5750 can run BF3 on ultra spewing out 30-32 frames @ 1366x768. GTA IV on the same resolution gives 22-24 fps with a mix of medium/high settings.

Everything lol. One blade from the fan chipped off (though that never made a difference in temps, but makes an annoying whirring sound), idle temps are at 50c and tops out at 88c with the fan at 70% (stock volts, changed thermal loads of times, cleaned heatsink). The little guy's taken a lot of punishment in the last 3 years..survived a generic PSU (which took out my mobo) explosion on my old system biggrin.gif

Nice! haha, explosion of PSU? I'm happy to have never had that happen! biggrin.gif
A missing fan blade does nothing to temps..? are you sure? Technically it's lost a fair bit of airflow in losing a blade! haha
Imagine the fan if more broke off.. How did it even chip off anyway? tongue.gif

Even before the blade chipped off (which was about a month ago) temps were still the same. So i may be at a loss of a degree tops.

As for HOW it happened, let's just say there was a cloth involved rolleyes.gif

Ah... This is why you never touch anything while it's on! wink.gif I used to but.. Well my top 230mm fan in the 932 isn't fast/sharp enough to do much damage.. But it scrapes skin which i'd rather be cut than have a chunk of skin missing. I've made myself never touch it while it's on again, only the back of my hand for a "feel" of temps. smile.gif

For what it's worth, I started playing The Ballad of Gay Tony the other day - it uses all the same stuff graphically etc. as GTA IV with the latest (1.0.7.0) patch. I turned everything to maximum, apart from shadows and night shadows (high) and view distance and detail distance (50). I get about 50 to 55 FPS quite constantly. If there are any regular dips in frame rate, I don't notice them. This is at 1080p.

I played the game with a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo and a 2.38 GHz Core 2 Quad before I got my i5 - the Core 2 Quad gave me some boost in performance but due to the low clock speed it wasn't much. Really, it seems like GTA IV wants a strong 3+ GHz quad core in the CPU department, and then a similar level of graphics hardware to Crysis to run on equivalent settings.

i love ati cards biggrin.gif they are just the best arent they? lol ive had a few of both ati and nvidia never liked the nvidia's much. my old GTX 260's did good but id take a 5830 over even a GTX 690 tongue.gif unless i could sell it and buy a couple 7970's of course.

i would think that the ballad of gay tony being a new game and patch version would at least have some performance improvements over the plain basic GTA IV 1.0 and would of course run better on system than its earlier counterpart. O.o

I'm pretty sure that the latest version of the EFLC game is exactly the same performance wise to the latest version of the base game (1070). It is, after all, an expansion to GTA IV - it's not a separate game.
