CM Z3ro-G Mega tracking issues

Thread Starter
Hey all ...

I am currently using a CM Z3ro-G on a roccat sota ... I use it at 5600dpi and I have some seriously erratic mouse tracking as well as a momentary pause in tracking (mouse cursor doesnt move) if I lift the mouse and put it back down ...

Is this a mouse issue or a bad mouse pad ...

All information would be greatly appreciated
Kind regards.

Can be a bad pad or that the sensor lens is dirty. You should clean it with a q-tip from time to time.

The dead time after lifts on hard pads was a problem that the original CM storm sentinel had. I reported this to them after a half baked beta test and its pretty sad to see that the problem exists in their newer mouse. It happened on the Steelseries 4HD and even on the hard pad that they sent with the mouse to test with, their awful M4 hard pad: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/surfaces/hs_m_weapon_of_choice_m4_ssk/

Which cloth pads would you recommend then ... preferably on a tight budget ... I use my mouse for high precision at 5600DPI

Don't use cloth pads with PTE mice or you will regret it smile.gif. Why do you use it at 5600 DPI btw? What's your sensitivity setting? I bet you don't need the 5600 DPI.

Why shouldn't I use a cloth pad ?

I like my mouse sensitive ... if I drop my DPI down to 3200 ... the mouse feels extremely sluggish when gaming ... I use small flicks of the wrist instead of sweeping movements (claw gamer)

Enhance pointer precision off ... windows def at 6

Because the mouse pointer will jitter every time you click the buttons and the mouse sinks into the soft cloth pad due to the z-axis tracking.

MONVMENTVM is correct. The ultimate solution is to buy a different mouse. Try using a cloth pad and you get click jitter, try using a hard pad and you get a non responsive sensor after lifts, screwed either way. For a laugh, here's an old post of mine raging about it.

If you lift the mouse the cursor will jump several pixels down and to a corner of the screen. On soft pads the mouse has click jitter even at low DPI levels, you click an icon for example and the cursor will wobble. On hard pads the sensor has a problem reading the surface. Lift, then set it back down and the mouse is dead for a few seconds.

It's more or less a firmware issue. Everytime the PTE sensor looses tracking (e.g. when the mouse is being lifted), it can be configured in a way so that it recalibrates itself automatically. It's a smart capability of the sensor but ultimately it's not necessary in this situation (gaming mouse). It should calibrate itself only once when the mouse powers on or when you change mousepads etc.... but it should not auto-calibrate as it will cause delays e.g. when you lift the mouse. The PTE in the Razer Lachesis was configured the same way, whereas I think they disabled this in their later PTE products.

Thanks for all the info ... I really appreciate it ... ... I kinda feel bummed out after paying almost R600 for the thing ...

Seems my mouse sucks and I am now looking at a new 1 ... and seems I have a much smaller budget cause I just payed a lot for the crap I currently have ... which of the following would be best for high sense gaming with big hands (hybrid claw\finger)

Corsair M60
Razer Death Adder 3.5g
Razer Lachesis 3.5g
Steelseries Diablo 3
Logitech G9x
Gigabyte M8000X

Paired with

Razer Scarab (ironclad if I can afford it)
Razer Vespula
Saitek Cyborg Glide 7

All information would be greatly appreciated
Kind Regards
