Are these high temps for TF3 7950 @ 1150/1700 1.149 - Page 2

Installed 12.7 Catalyst Beta. BSODed during installation. Restarted, tried again. All went well, everything's installed.

did a run at 950 stock voltage, no artifacting. Did a run at 1Ghz stock voltage, had one small artifact-y stutter (this was before I put power limit up to +20% so that probably wouldn't have happened if I had already done that.) Maxed out at 63 degrees celsius during the 1 ghz run with a max fanspeed of 46.

TBH I think half those problems I was having were from the damn 12.6 driver.

It's 3 AM, I'll go for higher OCs tomorrow. 'night.

Update again: It probably was my card, not the drivers. Even with 12.7 I'm still getting massive screen flickering at anything but stock clocks. At 1000mV/1000core/1250 memory, heaven practically crashes my computer and the screen flickering problem persists onto my desktop (happening as I type this almost 5 mins after my last run of heaven)

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Zyranp5B18&feature=youtu.be same exact thing that's happening to this guy

EDIT2: It's not an overheating issue, the GPU is doing it while idling at 49 degrees. Max the GPU got today was 67 degrees.

are these problems present at stock clock speeds and stock voltage . if they are then definitely return the card. If it works fine at stock voltage then you need to make the call whether you want to get a refund and try some other HD 7950 OC card like Sapphire HD 7950 950 Mhz edition.

Do you know if the TF3 cooler has the little diamond offset on the base of the block to make perfect contact with the GPU die?
I don't know... Should I open it up and re-apply me PK-1 thermal paste?

Hmm... mine are fine. My stock voltage is 1081mv and can get stable at 1080mhz (haven't tried higher - do know that it BF3 crashes at 1100mhz) for core clock and 1600mhz for memory clock (though choose to stay with 1575 in CCC).
IDK what's wrong with yours.
Can get 1100/1700 with 1100 (19mv increase), and could probably get 1200mhz with not that much effort, but temps would be high.

I say stay with your TF3 because it has a 7970 and more power phases than a Saphire 7950 OC Edition wink.gif .

Well I'm planning to keep the TF3... but I'm going to RMA it to newegg and hopefully get a replacement that works correctly.

Try unplugging one of your monitors and run the benchmark with only 1 display.

Also all those driver cleaners don't work as well as doing a manual regedit cleaning. Did you clean Wow64 folder ati files?

Stay away from Beta driver and try the official AMD download drivers.

Run HWinfo64 during your benchmark and see what all of your video card temps are.
