Plus gamers do not tend to upgrade their GPU alone. They go with full systems. They run their system untill it won't cope and then get another one. Buying any hardware for "future-proofing" is always not possible. Not just speed evolves but also technology like PCI3, USB3, etc.
And calling it low budged hardware is bolony. A FX4100 can run a HD6950 fine. Which is hardly low budget gaming. It will run most games just fine on high or ultra settings at 1080p. We're coming back to my argument about being 1337 in your argumentation. Calling good strong hardware low budget hardware.

They are not made for different proposes. They are both made to run x86 code as fast as possible. The reason I compare the 2500k to a FX8350 is price, because that's what maters. Price vs performance. The AMD quads and hexas are slower and cheaper then the 2500k so that comparison has no merit. Further more the 2500k is a very good match for the FX8350 even in very heavily threaded applications like folding or offline 3D rendering making it a great CPU both for gaming and productivity.

Perhaps we know very different people but the PC gamer's I know don't "go with full systems" if they don't have to. That's just dumb. Why would you get a new system if just getting a new GPU is all that is needed to max out the latest games?

What?? Are you sure you know what low budget means? Low budget = not spending a lot of cash. The FX4100 is like the very definition of low budget. It does not mater how well it plays games. It's a cheap entry level part that makes it a low budget part.

i dont see u running vso task manager shows 8 cores in use its also set in vso itself since its multi threaded or are u admiting that the only reason why it would supposably " It'll be faster on a 2500k " is becouse the software it self cannot utilize all the cores? thumb.gif

The 2500K should match or beat the 8150, PLUS it will do so while consuming LESS power.

Overclocked Performance Analysis

While our overclocking efforts produced a significant boost for the FX-8150 in every test and application, the two rival Sandy Bridge CPUs also gained masses of performance after their hefty overclocks. While the FX-8150 at least managed to overhaul the Core 2 Duo E670o in the image editing test with a score of 1,077, the 5GHz Core i5-2500K was over twice as fast with a score of 2,228.

At 4.818GHz the FX-8150 was faster than a stock speed Core i5-2500K in our video encoding test, but was around 800 points behind that CPU operating at 5GHz. At least the FX-8150 managed to keep ahead of the Core i7-920 when both were overclocked, if only by 65 points.

However, the 4.818GHz FX-8150 dropped back to second-last place in the multi-tasking test and overall – the Core i7-920 managed to overhaul its deficiencies in both tests thanks to its 4.04GHz overclock. This left the Core i5-2500K and Core i7-2600K way ahead of the FX-8150, with 2,662 and 2,791 points overall respectively, rather than 1,860.

When overclocked, the FX-8150 was on par with the overclocked Core i5-2500K and Core i7-920 in WPrime, a poor result considering AMD’s claims that it’s an 8-core CPU while the Core i5 is quad-core and the i7-920 invents four of its threads thanks to Hyper-Threading. The FX-8150 also failed to overtake the Core i7-2600K in Cinebench R11.5 when both were overclocked, managing just 7.95 points rather than 9.78.

Even in the one game that the FX-8150 could run without catastrophic failure and a system re-boot, it was lacking speed with a minimum of 70fps in Arma II. That’s slower than the Core i5-2500K at stock speed (which managed a minimum of 86fps) and only 1fps faster than the Phenom II X6 1100T operating 618MHz slower.

The 2500k would be faster, like most software people on this forum they max out at 4 threads making any real advantage the FX 8150 has irrelevant.

My 2500k is run at 5.5Ghz so if you want to see a video converted in under 3 minutes then let me know thumb.gif

However, if you're using Quick Sync then the Intel would blitz the AMD.
