If most I think I only gained about 5 fps in the games I play. And I almost paid double. I got the 1055T for $110 same week it came out at TD after rebate and I got the i5 for $180+ $15 taxes + $10~ gas to MC.

I had a very different experience. I went from a 1055t @ 4GHz to a 2500k. With the 2500k at stock clocks, I easily noticed an improvement over the 1055t @ 4GHz. To me, there was no comparison at all. And I am a huge AMD fan. This is the first Intel build I've ever had, and I am really impressed with it. I too got the Tiger Direct deal for the 1055t and got the 2500k from MC. I feel like I got a great deal on both processors.

I was an AMD fan too AMD Athlon > FX 8150. I then dropped AMD like a hot brick. Could not meet/beat I7 Intel in performance.
My current rig is an I7 3770K OCed to 4.4 stable.
No matter what I did, I Oced FX-8150 to 5.0; the only gain was high power consumption and heat. It then I decided to switch to Intel.
I am not too sure if 8320 will meet Intel headon. There was so much hype when zambesi was to be introduced. I fell for the hype. Now no more.rolleyes.gif

In fairness, the hype was almost entirely community generated. AMD ran what, one or two cheesy ads that said "Our new thing is shinier than their thing!"

A big issue with the Bulldozer hype was it was rumored for so long it almost became this savior like product that was just going to be the ultimate CPU ever.

A lot of the hate Bulldozer gets now can be directly attributed to the amount of hype it had before release. Seriously some people like to argue this but I think BD was w/o a doubt the most hyped up CPU of all time. As you said maybe not totally AMD's fault but it was there.

My point is that we have only ourselves to blame and flaming AMD for the hype we ourselves made is misdirected.

Exactly. We also have to bear in mind that AMD is operating off a much, much smaller budget than Intel is.

I seem to recall a certain AMD employee state that Bulldozer IPC would absolutely, unquestionably be higher than that of the Phenom II and that anybody who says otherwise is lying.

yes well Anandtech, claims Hyper threading is part of an IPC of a "core"

It is interesting to note the high Instruction Level Parallelism (ILP) that the Xeon E5 "Sandy Bridge" is able to extract out of these server benchmarks. Almost 1.4 instructions per clock cycle are retired and if you add SMT (Simultaneous Multi Threading), another 0.4 IPC flows through a single core. That is pretty remarkable for a benchmark that consists mostly of SQL statements that result in many branches and loads.
