What would you do if you had roughly $1500 for a gaming 15.6" Notebook - Page 2

If I had 1500$ I'd fly to Spain or Greece to burn something.

Anyway, what do you want? you want to spend all your 1600$ on the fastest gaming laptop?
I think it would be better if you'd write your needs - weight, screen, battery time, games you want to play.

9150 overall seems like a great value, and I'll add PowerNotebooks to the list of vendors that give discounts through NBR.

I would assume so, and generally the single 7970ms seem to have less trouble from what I have read. And there are also plenty of people where they have no issues with the card. I think some random games are the biggest problem, some of them just run badly on such a high end GPU.

A 9170 with a 7970m will scream I am sure! Enjoy!

If I ever spent $1500 on a computer it wouldn't be a laptop. I would just find the right laptop for my needs and pocket the rest of the money.

That's a great recommendation, the screen res is only 1366x768 which is kind of lame. but the hardware for the price is great.

Sager NP9150 or MSI G Series GT70 Laptop, see this comparison, GT70 features a NVIDIA GTX 675M graphic card, the price is around $1600, with Sager NP9150, you can get a Radeon HD 7970m graphic card, but it is more expensive.
The 680m is slightly better than the 7970m.
However, most sources report the 680m much more expensive. who can find a laptop features 680m now?
The GTX 680M is considerably more potent when overclocked. It's similar to the difference between the desktop 7870 and the GTX 670. The 7970M is based off the 7870 whereas teh GTX 680M is based on the GTX 670 and it can overclock back up to the desktop's scores.

If you want the best after overclocking, the 680M is your best bet. If you want the best base performance for your money, get the 7970M.

Both yield around the level of a GTX 570 under load.

If I could manage it again, I'd post what identitycrisis just posted because he's 100% accurate. Looks like I've made an impression on some of you here. smile.gif
