After a long and well-serviced life, some of AMD’s famous Penom II X4 and X2 processors will reach EOL in December this year. AMD’s Phenom II processor line is considered what “Barcelona” was supposed to be in the first place, and it’s the company’s first desktop architecture able to outperform Intel’s powerful Core 2 Duo line.

But aren't they just as strong as one of their newer CPU's? I wouldn't think they would be going EOL. I had a 945 and it was pretty awesome. My wife has a 955 right now.

I guess PD will be stronger than BD.

They kinda have to. If they continued to manufacture PII's, they wouldn't sell any Bulldozer chips.

I really wish I could buy a new 1090/1100T since I don't want BD for gaming and I'm not holding out much hope for PD either... We shall see. This is sad, nonetheless.

More resources open for newer and better things. Think about how much they have to support now? I bet they have a long life cycle planned for all the apus.
