Intel ICH10 vs Marvell 9128 - Page 3

This Intel controller provides superior performance even though the SATA ports are only SATA II as compared to the SATA III of this Marvell controller.

It's a computer!

Wow, the difference between 4K Random is insane! I personally wouldn't use the Marvell ports for anything exceptstorage ddrives that are accessed very infrequently, and for ODD's.

Hmm, my conclusion, better choose mobo carefully for next upgrade, Intel SATA III controller is more stable :3

Ups,Marvell controller .You just have to know what to do.

I'm buying a Samsung 830 soon and I have an Asus P6X58D-E board. Would it just be safer to connect it to the Intel port?? I'm running on a 1Tb Western Digital HDD for my boot drive now and its SO SLOW. Will I still see a massive performance increase by going with the Intel port for the SSD?

Better you test it for both Intel and Marvell SATA ports

Like i said,Everybody can say what they want but my system is quicker, program loads faster, mkvmerge muxing faster, windows boots faster and so on,on Marvell controller, comparing to Intel Sata2.And it is stable. You just need to overclock pci-e line to 110 and put Marvell Raid mode control to "Bypass".And anybody who say that overclock pci-e line is not safe dont know what they talking about.X58 are great board even better then Z77,they can stand all kinds of tortures.Mine pci-e line is overclock over two years without any problem.

Overclock the pci-e lane and put it in raid mode. I missed that. Thx smile.gif

No in Raid mode.In gigabyte bios under Integrated Peripherals

Gigabyte X58 are great board, now i have like you see Asus Z77,but its not even her shadow. You cant feel difference between Raid 0 on Z77 with Sata3 and X58 with Sata2.Now i am sorry that i didnt stay on X58,and with money that i bought Z77 platform bought 48gb of ddr3.Installing games on RAM,there is no SSD that can beat that, not even 20 SSDs.
O and c-states disable.Or maybe you keep your pc configuration for grandchildren.whistle.gif(sorry man i could not resist)

What if i dont want to put it in RAID mode? I'm just going to have one SSD and one HDD, I see no need for RAID for that. What would i do?
