Any AMD users with high Stable Samsung RAM Overclocks? - Page 9

Update: I'm convinced I either have bad sticks or there's a setting I'm forgetting to set to get these sticks stable. No matter what I've done so far, I keep getting random restarts during LinX runs. Sometimes it's after only a couple passes and sometimes it happens after over 150 passes. It's very aggravating. Can someone post all of their settings in BIOS for their overclock paired with a Thuban? I want subtimings, voltage settings for everything, the whole nine yards. Thanks.

Mine run 2200Mhz 11-11-11-28-2t @ 1.57v.
Did 275% of all unused RAM with MemTestPro.
No errors.

I got a screen shot of that,
but I'm still working on higher.
I may have made a breakthrough.
Currently have 2333Mhz testing.
No errors at 50%.

I will post proof of my highest stable memory clock.

BTW - Does anyone know if I might be limiting my RAM clock by using it for the iGPU?
Wondering if that's why I don't get 2400Mhz so easilly....

Even with exact settings, you may not get there. Different hardware and the possibility that your sticks just won't cut the mustard.

Well, yeah, but it'd be a nice refernce point. Anyway, I've figured it out. I got fed up and ran LinX at 1333MHz 11-11-11-28-2T. Horrid timings, but I just did it to see if these sticks were bad. Lo and behold, I got an error after 220 passes...It really is annoying that it takes that long to figure out if a stick is DOA...

I'm RMA'ing these sticks for a full refund. In the meantime, I popped my G.Skill Flares back in and got everything up and running at 2000MHz 7-9-7-24-2T no problem.

Jelly of those flares. Had an opportunity to get 4 sticks and waited too long. They got scouped up. You're definately going to get better performance out of those. Samsung are pretty cheap and most of the time overclock like crazy, but the timings are usually poor to get as high or higher than 2000mhz and the voltage bumps to 1.65 or more are way beyond stock. Got to 2133 with my 8350, but at 11-11-11-28, not going to get the performance of my ripjaws. Intel guys seem to get the most out of these sticks. You definately have to push cpu/nb and fsb frequencies as you probably already know. I personally run 3150+ cpu/nb and over 250 on fsb to get the best performance when testing. 24/7 - I keep cpu/nb around 3000mhz and don't push higher than 4 ghz on the cpu.

Yeah, but the thing is that's a 4GB kit. I want an 8GB kit at least. Running 4 sticks of Flares isn't an option because the 2 RAM slots closest to the CPU socket are obscured by the humongous fan I have strapped to my Venomous-X heatsink. Besides, I'd much rather stick to dual-channel for the sake of overclocking and benchmarks.

I'm thinking I might just splurge a bit and get some monster sticks, like a set of Corsair Dominator Platinums, just for the hell of it. Anybody know if Samsung HCH9 IC's can clock well with a Thuban IMC?

I just grabbed a set of 2x4GB 2133MHz GSkill Snipers, F3-17000CL9-4GBSR far as I can tell they are Hynix IC's?

Set all RAM timings to auto,booted right up at 1333MHz with the same timings below,which I have raised to 2050MHz.



Have not tweaked it much yet,but here's where I am with stock 1.65v. Ran 3 passes of LinX before temps hit 60c with my rad laying on top of my case with 1 fan....lol. Going to get my cooling in order and unlock the other 2 cores,then dial them in. I am very surprised so far! thumb.gif

Will update when done. Right now I am at 1.4v IMC/1.65v RAM/1.56v(way higher than it needs to be) CPU
