Isn't it a good idea in general to give every system Dual-channel memory anyways? I always get at least two sticks for my rigs.

Yes, but certain people are getting customized trinity laptops with a single stick in order to save money. The problem with doing this is that it essentially cuts your framerates in games in half. You have to have two sticks, and they have to be capable of dual-channel mode in order to get the best performance.

Considering that 8GB (2x4GB) is about $50 on newegg for a 1600mhz kit, it should be no problem for anyone that is spending $600+ on a laptop.
