Motherboard MIGHT have gotten wet

Thread Starter
Hello everyone i think my motherboard might have gotten wet...Im building my first watercooling long story short i was trying to clear the system of coolant that was already in and water kinda splashed out of the res. Its on the other side of the machine but im just parnoid that a drop got on my mobo. I cant see anything though. How long should i leave it for just to be safe? my graphics card is coming tomorrow so im guessing the earliest i would be able to boot is wednesday. Is that enough?

Thanks soo much!

Point a fan at it for some time too, like an oscillating fan.

I would let it sit at least 24 hours with a fan on it. A few hours doesn't seem like enough to me.

Another way of getting any moisture off your mobo is to sit it on a bed of rice, the rice will soak up any humidity leaving your mobo bone dry

Got some moisture in the PSU of the ladies PC awhile back. Was dusting her rig out with the air compressor and I noticed I got the back grill of the PSU wet. I let her computer sit in front of the dehumidifier in the basement for about three hours and all was well.

Depends on the relative humidity and dewpoint of the room. But yes, where $100s of dollars of PCB are concerned longer is better.

What are you using for the loop? Water, pre-mix anything that could explain the thickness of it? Also, are you able to shine some light in there? It's vary hard to get a proper look.
