The higher the speed, the worse the RX does.

That just doesn't make sense...

Regardless of what RPM performs what and heat blah blah blah....

I think sticking running a bunch of 3000RPM fans for water cooling is kind of defeating the purpose. (unless you have amazingly quiet high rpm fans) It's like getting some really nice brandy and mixing it with coke.

My main water cooling rig uses 2 RX360's and after doing a ton of testing, I will say that for ME, the "noise vs cooling sweet spot" on my set up seems to be about 1100-1200 RPM. Granted I'm just using 6 fans (in a push), and not a push-pull, but pretty much anything above those RPMs yeild diminishing return on the cooling capacity of those big, fat, radiators.

But back to the real question. Is it water or not?

Is it on all fans or just a one/couple?
Is it on the "push" fans at all, or just the "pull" fans?
Are the spots on just one set of fans on one radiator or are they on fans on both radiators? If they are on both, I would highly doubt it is water, since that would mean you would have leaks in 2 radiators (unlikely).

I originally bought 12 of the Ultra Kaze fans for my GTX 360 radiators (as they were recommend for best performance). I am using an NZXT Sentry Mix 6 channel 50w (per channel) fan controller. However, since I accidentally ruined my GTX's, I went with the RX360, since they are basically comparable; the GTX will cool about 1-2 degrees more. Since, I have already spent a decent about of of money on the fans, I figured I would continue to use them (regardless if they are not suited for my new radiator).

While this topic has been brought up, should I continue to use these fans, or should I cut my losses and invest into other fans?

This is happening to each one of the fans on the left radiator and I believe two of the fans on the right radiator.
From what I can tell, it is only on the "pull" fans (blowing the air out of the system). I will look at the "push" fans tonight to see if there is any spotting, if so, I will take some pictures and post it so you can see.

Looking at the post from Aquanaut, it possibly could be oil. Last night, I poured some distilled water on my finger and put two drops on the inner rim of the fan. The water did not spread at all; actually it stayed in bubbles like a car windshield that has rainx on it.

If this is oil from the fan, how and why is it coming out? Is this natural or is my fans bad?

Condensation will not happen i a loop like this, and the loop is as mentioned closed. The only way the fans could push water out from the fins is if there is a leak somewhere.

It could well be oil.

You say you have checked for water from the rad, did you do with both with the pump on and off? If you are happy that there is no leak then clean the fans up and keep an eye on them.

As for the "wrong fans" debate, there are no rads that will not do better with higher speed fans. The most you could say is that curlyp has the wrong rad for the fans. The GTX rads he originally had will do better than RX rads with high speed fans, but that is not to say that the RX won't benefit from them.

It really depends on where you are running for most of the time. If your fans are always maxed out, get a rad that does best at that speed. If you normally run with slower speed but like to bump up every now and then get a rad that does best at the slower speed.

Or just spend a lot of money and get a UT60 - works very well at all fan speeds.

If its water it should evaporate, oil wont. As for the fans - you could take the 6 pull fans out and keep them as spares. Probably run the other 6 fans off a fan controller at 50% and still get about the same amount of cooling out of your system. I wouldn't swap them out - they're good fans - easier to add a fan controller.

This is what I'm thinking exactly.

720 is an insane amount of cooling for just about any CPU/GPU system out there. I really don't see a need for a "push-pull" setup. I'd either sell them or repurpose them. If they are leaking oil (and your comment about evaporation is spot on), you could just keep the ones that aren't leaking.

As far as the 3000 RPM goes, I really don't see a need to run them 24/7 at that speed either. I'd personally dial them back to about 1000-1200 RPM (or what ever is a "comfortable noise level") unless you really need it. I don't know if I'd throw them all away just to get 6 1200 RPM fans ... that is, unless the fans are defective and are leaking oil.

As far as a good fan controller, in my 720 rig, I use a Scythe "Kaze Master Pro" 6 channel fan controller. It works perfect for my 6 fans on my 2 RX360's.
