It is the same for every brand. Next to that you actually get less with every update it seems. It is not like the DS that got more stuff with every update. If your old fat ps3 still works there is no need for a newer one.

Yes we know. Close to the end of this console generation, Sony is trying to attract as many latecomers to the consoles as they can as well as attract more people to a cheaper PS3 after their previous model broke or was sold.

I would safely assume so also. Its been swap-able on the older ones so why change that now. Unless they want to pull a Microsoft

Well the Playstation Gamescon conference is now over and the Super Slim wasn't featured or even mentioned. With the Xbox 720 and PS4 coming quickly by the end of 2013/beginning of 2014, the chances of me buying the Super Slim are getting smaller. Playstation better announce this Super Slim before the end of this year. According to this article, the next event for a possible announcement would be the Tokyo Game Show on September 20th.

This is why I always pick up Sony's consoles nearing the end of it's cycle, more efficient hardware with the bugs worked out and smaller form factors. The best part of course is that there are PILES of used games being sold for cheap once the new console is released.

Well, MS did a silent launch for the current, "xbox 360 S," so it's entirely possible that Sony is on track to do something similar.

In also don't have a ps3 and been looking to get one for years. I have 360 and PC for everything else, so ps3 would only serve me to play exclusives like uncharted and gow3 but I have 16:10 226bw screen... 360 just add black bars on top and bottom but I've heard ps3 don't have that option and my montior doesn't do scaling 1:1 itself.

Maybe they will update new slim with this ?
