Build me a rig for WoW (Client needs) - Page 4

Recommending a X6 when they are clearly slower than an i3 for less? How is that going to supply gaming needs for years to come?

For a basic build that will handle anything that he will need to be able to do is something like this:
i5 2500k
8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM
ASRock Extreme4 or similar
7850 or 560 Ti 448 (up to preference)
500-650w PSU (Seasonic, Corsair, etc)
Any cheap-ish case (NZXT Gamma, HAF 912, etc)
60-120 GB SSD
1 TB HDD
Windows 7

This rig will be great for a WoW gamer, it will have no issues maxing the game and overall system performance will be snappy. However, you may want to consider an aftermarket cooler to push the processor to 4.5 GHz. You could also overclock the 7850 to get the most value out of it.

I recommended it because I was not sure if the client also needed a Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse as well or not. So in order to save cash in the build for it I went with a less expensive yet still perfectly capable option to allow the addition of the items. Just because the 2500k is beter(and yes it is better) does not mean that budget wise it is when you take into consideration other factors for the entirty of the build.

i3 + 7850 or even a 7770 and you will be fine. It should run wow no problem on ultra, even in large raiding situations.

For wow, you really want fast single threaded performance, All Blizzard games favor intel.

Don't get an SSD for WoW. The comments about loading when you enter a zone are a bit misleading: The game actively and constantly renders ahead, not in bursts, but at sustained rates. It won't make a difference in gameplay, and costs alot of money. thumb.gif
