Polk Audio RTi6

Logitech Z506 for 5.1

OR

Logitech Z623 for 2.1

I have a older set of logitech and love them. Great bass and clear sound, also not to hard on the wallet. Of course there is much better for a lot more money.

Are the 5.1 speakers really good? I read somewhere here that 5.1 speakers are crap unless you get really serious with the monies.
Oh good lord no. With a $200 budget stay far away from Logitech. Heck, stay away from Logitech regardless....

1) Dayton DTA-100a T amp (or Lepai TA2020)
2) Dayton B652 Bookshelfs or Pioneer SP-BS41-LR Bookshelfs (find these on sale, don't pay MSRP for them)
3) Get a subwoofer later, Dayton SUB800, SUB1000, or SUB1200. If you get the Lepai T amp, then you can afford the sub now, but I would suggest the stronger amp to get you going first.

Any speakers WILL require an amplifier. It's just a matter of if its built into the speakers or not. With a custom setup like the above, you can upgrade literally any part of it (amp, speakers or sub), without having to replace everything.

My personal vote would be the DTA-100a and Pioneer bookshelfs to get you started, and save up for the SUB1200 later on down the road. Would give you the BEST sound quality for your money.

You WILL require a 3.5mm to RCA cable, and some speaker wire. Otherwise, that's all you need, and its no more difficult to hookup than PC speakers. You match the black wire to the black plug, red to red.

Thanks! lol Your advice sounds a lot closer to what I was expecting from a response. Explanations and fits with what I have already read up on so far. Shame I can't rep you.

Recommend any good sites to buy from?

Well, Dayton equipment is only sold through Parts Express (or their Amazon store) usually. If you order over $90 (which you'll need the wiring too like I said), you'll get free shipping. So DTA-100a, speaker wire, and a 3.5mm to RCA cable from Parts Express, that'll run you about $100-105 or so there shipped.

Next, find the bookshelfs of your choice on sale somewhere. Amazon and Newegg both have good deals. Look for those Pioneer bookshelfs if you want a nice natural sound (preferrably $75 or so on sale). Or you can also spend a TAD more and look for the Polk Monitor 30's or 40's on sale. There's also the BIC Venturi (at Parts Express), which are also quite nice. The Dayton B652's are a last resort option. They're absolutely amazing speakers at the $30 price point. But considering you're not going to have a subwoofer for a while, I'd spend a little more on the bookshelfs to get something with more low end....and preferrably something more natural sounding.

1. Around $200 preferably less... but I can be convinced to more.
2. Love music... Rock primarily but I like it all cept country.
3. Excellent for Gaming (I also use my computer to watch tv/movie streams)
4. I don't exactly know what an AMP is but I am sure I don't one. I have a G930 Headset. My Asus Rampage Extreme IV claims to have great onboard sound quality.
5. Plan to use on my Computer for gaming and watching a lot of streams.
6. I live in the United States, here we use what is called a DOLLAR. I like Amazon but I have stores like best buy, walmart, target, etc etc near me.
Im looking for high quality sound preferably surround but I hear that unless I spend a fortune 2 eakers and sub is probably the best way to go. I want something that is clear... Hopefully something that can fix distortion in some streams... if that's possible.
Nothing can beat a good sound card with some studio monitors. The sound quality of most bookshelf speakers are horrible, and you'll realise this after you've heard a nice set of monitors.....Like these-

http://www.amazon.com/Mackie-MR5mk2-Powered-Reference-Monitor/dp/B004H7SO46/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1343006620&sr=1-1&keywords=mackie+monitor

^ A little bit above your budget, but well worth it for music/gaming. thumb.gif

Parts Express was the first place I went to from Google. They are out of stock till August.
lol... I'd go over budget with one amp and a single speaker :-P Ima look around a bit... Looks like I might have to consider a double budget.
