to stay around the 900$ mark is there a better choice of these parts

GFX- EVGA 670 FTW
MOBO- AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 chose this because of the pcie 3.0
CPU- i5 2500k
CASE- Haf 922
PSU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171048

This totals out to 926.95 plus i get free 2 day shipping What is there a better combination i could go with?

once again thanks for the help with my upgrade biggrin.gif Overclockers.net rocks

Nowadays, there are many much better cases than the HAF 922, how much are you paying for it? Also, I wouldn't trust Coolermaster for PSUs... I'd suggest this one instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256058 It's a much better PSU from a much better brand and it can even handle peaks of 950W easily. You'd also be perfectly fine with the 750W model even for SLI 670s.

You'll only get PCIe 3.0 with an Ivy Bridge CPU. The current gen cards can't even saturate PCIe 2.0 anyway, so you could save a bit of money by going with a Sandy Bridge chipset motherboard.

Please, please, please!!! dont buy a Coolermaster PSU.

Go with Antec or SeaSonic/Corsair.

I'd get an AX650 or SeaSonic X650 power supply.

Gold rated and fully modular.

Everything else is good

Gen 3 means he is able to use the 670, even though he will not be able to utilize it fully

Keep the board

The performance loss is only 4-5%

Better yet, get an ASRock Z77 Pro4 if you're gonna be running single graphics card.

Natively compatible with Ivy Bridge and PCIE 3.0

Upgrade to a 3570K while you're at it. Only $10 difference
