Anyone pick up the new Retina Macbook Pro?

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a rMBP 2.3/16/256 with an expected ship date of for August 7th. How long did it take for Apple to ship it? What's your personal opinion of it? I've also heard some issues regarding a lot of 3rd party apps not being retina aware, anyone know about that?

If you're going to troll, please just stay out of this thread.

I think this is the first time anyone technically capable could justify the purchase of a mbp. Nothing else has that kind of pixel density. I have to admit apple does make some pretty nice hardware, problem is that its price to performance is not that great. But I was kinda considering this one for a change. But I figured I could get the same specs and a pretty decent quality screen at the $1200 mark X_X and just got mod it to be like apple, if you know what i mean.

I don't think we can discuss Hackintosh here.

On topic, it looks nice. It's overpriced. I like them. Support will probably be lame at first but developers will follow the money trail.

Huh? The OP isn't justifying anything, he's just reaching to anybody who owns one already.

My friend got one launch week, and the screen is pretty amazing. He has been sticking with Chrome instead of the usual Firefox though, because the text in FF doesn't scale correctly (looks pixelated, IIRC).

Yeah I've got one on order.

It's a BTO with the base spec just 16GB RAM upgrade.

My expected delivery date is 6-10th August, so long to wait!

I've not seen one in person, but I'm sure it will look awesome!

I mean, seriously, the screen on my 2011 13" still looks stellar. These screens have some of the best color reproduction and contrast of anything I have ever seen.

I ordered one too, 2.7 512 16.... I'm hoping for great things since its my first mac but I have heard of some problems. Examples being, video hardware can't keep up with the screen(scroll/animation lag being evident). Additionally, there are a couple people who have ghosting and yellowing issues with the retina screen. Luckily apple has been doing no question returns on those. Otheriwse, anandtech has a pretty comprehensive review of the machine, and he's given it a seal of a approval, so that's what pushed me to make the purchase. Mine should reach me today or tomorrow, so I'll update with more info once I play around with it for a bit.

It's all in your head, they are just 60% gamut TN panels.

I read through Anandtech and while I do like his comprehensive review, I would still like a regular folk on OCN to give their input as well.

Please update when you get the chance, thanks.

Honestly, you're going to get a better response from an Apple forum (larger sample size, minimally.). http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90

As an example, your list of 3rd party apps that are Retina ready. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1389998
