Please update when you get the chance, thanks.

Well I got mine yesterday and so far I have to say the screen is damn amazing. Performance wise, I was able to run d3/sanctum and a couple of other games successfully. 1080p playback of video looks brilliant. Text is epicly crisp and the ports etc work exceedingly well. hdmi out to a tv was great. Didn't really touch the thunderbolt, but I'm assuming it works fine. backlight, keyboard, trackpad are all better than anything I've used on a windows laptop in the past.

Noticeable cons:

Heat is extremely noticeable on this thing. First mac, so it may be the norm, but I was able to use my last laptop on my lap. This one will require a cooling pad if you're streaming hd vids/heavy browsing. Its a tad disappointing but not too shocking considering the form factor.

Noticeable ui lag and scrolling lag. So far this has been the biggest bane and the one issue that is making me consider returning the machine. It's not unusable, but its definitely in your face when the lag occurs. UI events like launching the program dashboard thingy or expanding windows after having minimized them do lag on occasion. Browser scroll is noticeably laggy compared to older laptops that I've owned. Obviously the retina screen takes more out of the hardware but I'm hoping this is a software issue and will be corrected tomorrow with the release of mountain lion. If it isn't, it'll likely be a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for your input. I've heard about the UI issue and I've read reports that Mountain Lion fixes those issues (according to folks on Macrumors who has played around with the GM ML version).

I just got an email saying mine is about to ship earlier than expected, so can't wait to get my hands on it. After you update to Mountain Lion, mind giving your input on the UI?

Thanks again...
