Also I've been recomended by a friend to Go for an i5 cpu as opposed to i7, saying that the i7 features ( hyperthreading was mentioned but I don't know much about this ) are not very necesarry for gaming. Is this true ? saving more money would always be great.

Actually an I3 would be more than enough for gaming, but it doesnt have the e-peen factor. You could alway buy the i5 but you are spending 2000$+ on this build, so why the f* not? tongue.gif

Wait, what?

Sata III HDD? Why?

What's the point in paying an extra for Sata 3 since they are running at 7200 RPM anyway?

Or am I having a huge brain fart?

Now I know that OCN is THE place for Watercooling.. but unless you plan on doing insane overclocking, and spending just as much for less performance, why would you watercool it aside from the joy of building a custom loop? Go ahead and flame me for this, but I think having a 690 that runs everything at 120 FPS would be better off than a crazy custom loop on a 680. I would much rather just run it at closer to stock speeds and have double the GPU power for my gaming personally.

Nowadays, and I will be the first to admit that I have never watercooled, and I live in San Francisco nowadays where the ambient temps are never that high, but my CPU has never gone over like 50~C and my OC'd 670 hasn't even bothered to get past 70C. Dropping the processing power of your GPU to have a sweet custom watercooling seems ...like a bad decision to me? :duck and cover:

Well some people prefer the wow factor from the 690 while some people prefer the wow factor from a custom loop.

Would you rather see 120 fps instead of 60 or some tubing/blocks instead of a chunk of metal?
Preferences. There is no real-world use to any of this, IMO, it's just for the sake of it.

I just don't see the point in spending a grand on a video card that will be half the price in a year.

670 is best bang for buck

And that watercooling loop he listed is ok but that 170$ block is stupid overpriced!
