Hi, my cousin is looking for a laptop for Multimedia production:
So what I'm looking for is something with the following:
Good build quality and durability, aluminum chassis is nice
15.6" 1080p IPS panel
Dedicated video card (at least mid level, preferably ati for their better compute performance)
Nearly any quad core ivy bridge
8gb of ram
probably HDD with mSATA srt caching, or a ssd + hdd combo
optical drive (not required if going with ssd + hdd combo)
Fairly light (as long as it's not super heavy, the lighter the better though)
Preferably nothing too much over $1200
Decent battery life
Comfortable high quality keyboard
I know I have looked at the VAIO S, but nearly nothing else has an IPS panel + these specs and the VAIO S is quite pricy, there is a lot of choice when going for something without an IPS panel, so please just limit the suggestions to IPS panels, she needs something with excellent color reproduction.
I have also looked at the Vizio cn15a2, it looks fairly promising, but hasn't come out yet.
