[vr-zone]Intel Core i7-3970X Arrives in Q4: Report - Page 4

IIRC EE SB-E have an additional 3MB of L3 cache too. Still not the entire ASIC enabled though, lack of competition I guess...

well put it this way the i7 920 does not have a big difference from the i7 of 1156. what changes is the fact that 1366 had 3x2 and 1156 had 2x2.
now with 2011 or 1155 it comes down to the same thing. 2011 is 4v4 and 1155 is 2x2.

Look at what happened when SB was launched, review sites recommended the i7 2600K over the i7 980X / 990X for all but the most niche markets.
IB-E should be launched still this year, given that SB-E was launched last year.

Haswell will probably be limited to 4 cores, whereas Ivy Bridge-E will scale up to 10 cores. Even if Haswell has gigantic architectural improvements, IB-E will still be at least twice as fast in multithreaded applications.

This is true. The advantage of it is only the e-peen and saying I have a 3960X sounds sexier than saying I have a 3930K or 3820 .
It is just like how the GTX 680/670 or HD7970/HD7950 nowadays. A non-reference GTX 670/ HD7950 can almost reach the max OC of the GTX 680/ HD7970 or sometimes even beat it if the 680/HD7970 is a dud and for much less money, it is just nicer to say I have GTX 680/HD7970 compared to saying just I have a GTX 670/ HD7950 wink.gif .

If it was unlocked 8 cores I would have bought it, but not worth it for me even if they're better binned like the 990x's were. Guess I'll be holding out for IB-E.

I already use more than 64Gb of RAM. In fact, I have 16GB in my system, which is twice as much.

He's playing with the fact that the official way to abbreviate gigabit is Gb, while the official way to abbreviate gigabyte is GB.

1 byte = 8 bits

64 gigabits / 8 = 8 gigabytes
