Why does everyone on OCN hate apple so much. - Page 3

Some people are just biased. I have a retina display MBP & even though I believe Apple products are overpriced and sometimes are technically inferior to products you can get for cheaper I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love the 2880x1800 resolution. I also love my custom built PC.

They discontinue products way too quickly. For example, the 3gs still gets iOS 6 even though the first gen iPad is still faster.

Apple doesn't have the greatest reputation for offering good price/ performance products.

Saying that I have an iPhone 4 and will be upgrading up to the iPhone 5 when it releases because I like iOS more than the competing OS's. Also I like the new Macbook Pro for the awesome screen resolution.

Enthusiasts such as ourselves don't appreciate when tasks are dumbed down for the general public. That's been Apple's focus, mainstreaming computing. And in order to do that you have to dumb it down a bit and hide all the little things that can cause harm if you don't know what you're doing. Windows 8 is following a similar model with the metro UI, they're trying to make the computer easier to understand.

At the same time, Apple is not inclined to offer compatibility with anyone but themselves. They like their proprietary connectors and they make it very difficult to upgrade their machines after market (with the possible exception of the Mac Pro).

I'd like to add as well, that we appreciate it even less when the MAJORITY of their ignorant consumers call all other machines inferior.

Because Apple is one of THE worst companies when it comes to patents and patent disputes as they patent minor or obvious things and sue other corporations for using those things in their products. They also make quite a lot of false claims (like how Macs are impervious to malware and like how we've never seen anything like the Retina display (IBM T220/T221 anyone?)). I like their products, but how Apple has been abusing the patent system recently sickens me.

I am a little pissed at apple at the moment as they pretend my PowerMac G5 doesn't exist and no longer even sell an OS that is compatible with it. Yeah, I lost my Mac OS DVDs along with other things when I moved from the West Coast mad.gif

People say Macs are better than PCs, they are not. They are a different breed of PC. The OSX and the Apple apps are highly optimised for the systems they run on. The downside is the top end Macs have a gtx 560 ti and cost more that £3000....

If I ever wanted OSX, I would build a PC and put the os on it.

Apple as a company, I hate their patent trolling, but that isn't limited to just them. And I hate the fact that they have only just recently stopped saying they don't get viruses.

To me those are minor thing. The main problem I have with Apple, are the people who buy the products. Quite often they don't actually know what is inside, yet continue to claim it is better because it's a mac... I find discussing anything to do with computer a chore when discussing it with the mac owners that I know. Mainly because they don't fully understand what is going on.

/rant
tl;dr
Apple/Macs aren't that bad, but they are overpriced and I dislike most of the mac owners I know....

Why do I hate apple ?

Because they sell an image to lemmings looking for style over substance. Their products are inferior and most of the time it's entertaining to watch the company scurry to cover-up that fact (read: you are holding it wrong). Occasionally, it's not entertaining and downright shameful the way the corporation tries to either cover-up that their products are inferior or when it's downright obvious then they will just patent troll.

Oh, and one other thing comes to mind. I'd like to slap an "apple genius" if I ever see one. biggrin.gif
