it's the same with any other AV company. Less Faux News please. I can't talk politics here but yeah, let's say the US isn't so squeaky clean either, far from it.

I have been using Kaspersky for oh 6 or 7 years and I have never had any issues with it in terms of hacking until I uninstalled it, during a brief time while designing stuff that was hacked. Just goes to show you that trust is not a nationality issue instead it is a monetary one, Microsoft, Apple, vendor software companies all have some sort of back door they use to give information to the governments of the world so really this article is neither surprising nor reason to stop using Kaspersky for me personally.

He may be hinting at the fact Google's CEO has said some of the very same things about privacy and a lot of the big companies over here in the US have some real anti-privacy policies(think RIAA's constant censorship bills). As much as dislike Communism, supporting a company that is uncovering cyber attacks makes our US-Israel alliance look the aggressor and we tend to stay out of wars that would leave us clearly labeled as the aggressor. And I don't think there is too much risk of the company taking a pro-communist approach business wise as they'd lose an awful lot of customers just like that.

Stuxnet was made by the US and Israeli experts..poke.gif It's been confirmed.

The article implies that Windows sends Kaspersky data from our machines without our knowledge. Surely I misunderstood that?

Pretty sure every single antivirus does that. They send the quarantine to their servers to examine the files. You can disable it, so I'm not sure what's the big deal here...

Great insight into Kaspersky.... did not know he was former KGB....

A market research pool of 300 million users in one form or another. I wonder how much they make selling "anonymous" user data to companies involved in market research? I'd wager someone with such a large pool of real time data would have a distinct advantage in the stock market whether it be by predicting retail trends or outright manipulation. Of course, I'm sure the high ethical standards of the average Russian corporation would preclude any such use.

The guy is an ex KGB agent that lives in Russia which might seem like a democracy but really is just a puppet democracy. Anyone paying attention the last 12 years could tell you that. The country is RUN by an ex KGB agent.

Kaspersky is a good guy. Frankly, you say what you have to say in situations like that so the govt doesnt come in and shut you down or seize your assets.

No, the article implies that it happens regardless of the AV software used. Crappy editing.
