When you have a giant min FPS difference, it actually does matter, expecially when it is a 15+ FPS difference. Your eyes will notice the difference over a steady 40 FPS any day..

Go for the 7950, it's the best price/performance card you listed. Overclock the heck out of it and have fun!

I think I'll be going with the 7950, out of curiosity what games does the 670 beat the 7950 in min frames by 15?
Go for the HD 7950 OC. Best price perf card among all the high end GPUs. You should have no problem getting to 1.15 Ghz with voltage tweaking. Any higher speeds would be mostly restricted by the TWIN FROZR cooler. IMO once overclocked HD 7950 (1150) will win more games against GTX 670 (1250).

I am not sure of what games you play but its fact that the 670 smokes 7950 in BF3, SCII, and Skyrim to name a few! Some games its close but honestly if it were me id get the 670 or 7970! you can find some sick deals on 7970 atm, prices are dropping! I personally have a gtx 670 DCII and love it! smokes the pants off any AMD card out in 3dmark! But depending on what games you play is what I would like at, because I play those games and some others but BF3 it beats a 7970 as well! I would use anandTech website on their gpu benchmarks if you want some more research on how well each card performs and they have all kinds of different resolutions! The higher the resolution the better tho the 7xxx series gets!

If I am not mistaken, BF3 will have a better min FPS by 20+ @ 1080p @ Ultra(I think). I am not 100% positive, I could not find any benchmarks comparing min FPS in BF3

7950.. It'd 3GB to start off with and at your res it makes no sense to go with a 670 really.. (Unless you get a 4GB one). As people have said there isn't ALOT of difference and it's almost $100 cheaper then a 670. The 7950 overclocks more, (well faster) supposedly, it's also using a 7970 PCB on that certain 7950 in question (The MSI one), which makes it a steal. I can almost guarantee 7970 speeds on that card. Maybe not for the memory though. Still it's not worth the 7970 over the 7950. It's like a third of a second card!

HD 7970 OC - avg 72 min 44
GTX 680 Lightning OC - avg 72.1 min 39

BF3 multiplayer

BF3 1920 x 1200 Ultra 4X MSAA
HD 7970 Ghz - avg 55.4 min 44
GTX 680 Lightning - avg 64.2 min 50
GTX 680 Lightning OC - 67.4 min 46

There is no HD 7970 OC score as the test was not performed on HD 7970 OC. Even a 100 Mhz OC will take avg fps close to 60 and min fps to 48 - 50

HD 7950 OC with GTX 670 OC will be the same wrt min fps. GTX 670 OC will be slightly ahead in avg fps because its avg OC on air is 1250 while HD 7950 is 1150.

Interesting.... AMD must have updated their drivers for BF3, because I remember there used to be a ~20+ AVG FPS difference (And even more min because AMD had a better max FPS) when the GTX 670s were released. Like from AnandTech and Toms
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5818/nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-review-feat-evga/11
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-670-review,3200-5.html

But your review is newer, so there might be different drivers as well. My mistake, The GTX 670 used to have better min FPS in most games though and was within 5% of the performance of a GTX 680 which is why it was normally preferred over the 7950.
