They should just open up a drive-thru CPU (and CPU/Motherboard Bundle) stand - Those are the two products that are consistently worth buying at MC tongue.gif They'll save on rent and overhead! wink.gif

Quick! Move to Medford, OR! We have plenty of retail space here and for cheap!! The old Circut City place has been sitting for years now, the owner really wants it leased!

from what i've heard from employees at the one in camridge, MA, they sell the cpu/mobo combos at a relatively large loss, in hopes that people will be drawn there with low combo prices and build full systems. Unfortunately, most if not all of us go there simply to take advantage of their combo prices, or grab something small we need. Not to mention they basically have a no questions asked return policy. To us they are a great company, but it's definitely a poor business plan.

While I am sad to see them go because there's no comparison between Fries and Microcenter, I do have to say that having been to several Microcenters across the country this was by far the worst one. Don't get me wrong, customer service was great but the store itself was tiny and as a result they never seemed to have what I was looking for on display.

It always surprised me that the Silicon Valley Microcenter of all places was that much worse than say the one in St. Louis. Hopefully a new and better one will open sometime in the future. It's not like they're lacking of customers in the Bay Area.

How can a physical store afford to sell things for less than a virtual store such as Amazon? The answer: They cannot, obviously. That was likely their last ditch effort to try and stay afloat, but the world has changed.

Looks like its time to brush up the resume...

Do you mean peripherals? If so, it is possible we have corresponded quite a bit!

It is sad to see Microcenter go. I have built at least 4 systems from parts bought exclusively from this store.
