The CPU heatsink does get hot, so I'm pretty sure the heatsink is working.

You need to tighten the heat sink down as much as possible, the CM 212+ are a bit light duty for the 1366 processors IMO as they don't have enough dissipation surface area, but they still shouldn't be getting terrible temperatures like yours.

By all the way down I mean pretty snug to the point where the screw stops turning. I was using a cheap free screw driver and it was a definitive difference when it was all the way down pressure wise.

I see. I will later change and also tighten the heatsink. Although, I don't really think tighting could make such a major difference in temperature?

if its not tight it doesn't contact the paste / ihs properly and yea it would make a difference since its a contact cooling system...

yes it will make a dramatic difference. When I originally put in my i7 860 it wasn't on all the way like it is now and my temps were way up there like yours

OK, so the heat is getting into the heat sink. The next thing to check is that the heat is being dissipated from the heatsink.

Is your heat sink fan spinning? How is it controlled? If you have two fans, are they both pointed the same way (i.e. not both blowing into or out of the heat sink)?

Stop fighting us man. Your heatsink is not mounted properly. Either it's not down tight enough or there's too much or too little thermal paste or you left the plastic cover on, or something. It takes five minutes to take it off, double check, and reseat the heatsink. Just do it.

Hey buddy, did you check to see if the fan on the 212 was blowing air out of the case? Just ask, because I dought that did not tighten the screws down all the way tongue.gif. If You are going to take it off anyways you might as well check , never know.

Also check your thermal paste because that can be a big problem if you did not put enough, but make sure its not too much
