Will this work for a phase change unit?

Thread Starter

I've had this deep freezer sitting in my garage for over 2 years without use. It was bought brand new by my parents and they only used it for a year before giving it to me. Can I pull the "guts" out and make a phase change unit from it? If so, are there any detailed guides on accomplishing this? thanks

No.... the compressor is not designed to run constantly.

AC units are however.

Actually you can as long as the compressor is large enough.
I would recommend nothing smaller than a 1/3hp and nothing bigger than a 1hp.

You might also be able to use the condenser depending on its size.
