Core 3 temp issue w/ i5 3570k - Page 2

Wow that seems really hot. My 3570k at 4.2 runs only at 60-65 under load with a hyper 212.

UPDATE:

So I returned my 3570k to Canada Computers and exchanged it for a new one since I had 1 day left on the warranty. I also picked up some GELID GC Extreme to replace the H80 stock paste. I didn't use the included GELID applicator, I just put a rice sized blob of the TIM on the centre of the CPU and screwed down my cooler to spread it. My temps are now *drum roll*

Idle: 31-21-29-20
Load: 59-59-61-55

I don't know if I had a bad mount or bad TIM before but that's a 10* change on load from my old CPU. The temp sensors on the new i5 also seem more accurate on idle which is a nice side benefit.

Question: The repair guy I talked to at Canada Computers was convinced the CPU temperature sensors are on the motherboard and not the CPU. I disagreed but I wasn't going to get into it with him since I don't want to be "that guy." But I'm right aren't I? thumb.gif
