CHECKSUM ERROR help please!

Thread Starter
Hello everybody
I have a really annoying problem with my Gigabyte ga-ma78lmt-s2 mobo for 6 months.
It's ok until i cut the electricity. When i do this it gives me "bios checksum error" when booting, and after windows starts, date and clock shows 01/01/2010 00:00
-I changed the battery, nothing changed..
-I sent the mobo to gigabyte service twice (it took my 40 days) and they've send it to me again saying "NO PROBLEMS FOUND"mad.gif
At first i thought that they are kidding me or something. But then i remembered that before giving my case to service, i took my harddisk. So they tested my pc with their own harddisk and windows, and they found nothing wrong.
It means the problem is win7 i have right? If this is true, which file is corrupted? what can i do? and how can i fix this without formatting my pc? (because i don't have a win7 cd)
I need help overclockers, thank you.

this has nothing to do with your hard disk, however changing the cmos should correct this issue... could be a faulty psu. i would test another one if you can get your hands on different psu.

But i have send it to gigabyte service twice (all case including psu) and they found nothing. Only part that i didn't send was harddisk.
Maybe it's not about hard disk but what about windows?

bummer frown.gif you could try this..... take everything out.
take the cpu/ram out.
take the cmos battery out.
power on the machine with everything out for a min or two.
put everything back in, boot the system go in to the bios and set everything to fail safe defaults.
save and boot then power down the machine
flip the power switch and try again!

other than gigabyte i can recommend asus.

I think an important thing to understand is what a checksum is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checksum

This makes me think that there could be something going on with the BIOS. You might try reflashing the latest version and seeing if you get the same issue.

Are "flashing bios" and "updating bios" the same thing?
Because i updated bios several times, tried every version. Now i have the latest version (f14)
My mobo has dual bios, so how can i COMPLETELY clear both of them then install the bios again?
