Which cooler - 1100T BE

Thread Starter
Hey all
I´m slowly starting to put my brother´s new system together, I´m planning to try and get the cpu to 4ghz (its the 1100T black edition) so ofcourse I need a new cooler insted of the stock one. But I´m still undecided on which cooler I should get.
It has to fit inside the case NZXT Source 210 Elite and from what I´ve read, it allows a max height of the cooler to be 160mm. Tho I´m not sure about this, so could anyone confirm ?

Which cooler should I get for him ? or should I get one of thoes closed watercooling loops, and incase which one ?

Thanks for the help.

This cooler could do well for the job: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233081 and the best part is that it fits as well tongue.gif

and for water coolers you could go Corsair h60 "like me," or go for Antec's equivalent the Antec Kuhler h2o 620.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is probably the best one for your needs. Used it on my rig for awhile and got up to 4.3ghz. Fantastic heatsink and probably one of the best.

If you want a water cooler, get an H60 or H80. Those are decent and are low profile.
You have a super small case and that limits the choices for heatsinks. I would buy a bigger case in the future.

I would recommend the Corsair H80 if you're looking for a liquid cooler, it does an amazing job for my CPU even on it's mid setting. A lot of people complain about noise but it has never bothered me (it might not be optimal for a HTPC though.)
The radiator fits into the rear 120mm fan bay (although I've heard that you can fit it into a top one as well.)
I have a Zalman Z11 Plus which is also a mid-tower, so I'm guessing that the H80 would fit your chassis as well.

I´ve done a it more research, and it does seem a Noctua NH-D14 fit´s in the case. So I guess that would be the "best" possible aircooler to fit in there.
I´ll see if I can find a compairison with this and the H80.

Thanks for all the help.

-edit-
Thought I´ll post the specs of the system, im building for him here.
CPU - phenom II x6 1100T Black edition
MB - ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX
Ram - Corsair Vengeance 4 x 4 GB
GPU - XFX Radeon HD 6870 (ive suggested he can crossfire it, when he has the money)
PSU - CoolerMaster Silent Pro M850
Case - NZXT Source 210 Elite

Found this list which has comparison of a variety of coolers, should be of some help as it contains temp as well as noise.
Btw. looks like a nice rig, I really like the Corsair Vengeance modules, have some of those myself! biggrin.gif

Before considering H80 google "H80 pump" and look at how many buyers are having pump problems.

Noctua NH-D14 is one of the best available. Radiator is 160mm but think the 140mm fan in middle will be okay. Just need to slip it down a little more than normal:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1801/6/

You will need Corsair Vengeance LP for fan to fit. wink.gif
http://www.corsair.com/en/support/faq/

Normal Corsair Vengeance is 52.5mm + 120mm fan = 172.5mm... and you said case clearance is 160mm

Corsair Vengeance LP is 32mm + 120mm fan = 152mm in 160mm case thumb.gif

Corsair came out with a new version about a month ago to fix that issue. Also, they have a whole guide to fix the pump noise if you still experience problems.
