Will flashing bios help me overclock?

Thread Starter
Hey,
I have a TF3 7950 and currently my card doesn't want to overclock to 1200mhz, no matter how much voltage I tack on. I'm wondering if flashing to a 7970 or a different 7950 card will help me overclock more. BTW, I have a 7970 pcb on my TF3.

Thanks wink.gif .

No, if the chip cannot go any faster, then it cannot go faster, bios doesn't matter

Not if you're just looking to OC, there's no reason for you to do it at all. Just seems to me like you hit your wall with that card.

No. But what it will help you do is brick your card and invalidate your warranty if they check the bios nerdsmiley.png

Found out it's my cooling that's causing it. 'Cause when I go like 1200mhz, it gets super hot, and that's when there are errors.
Maybe if I buy an aftermarket cooler? Can you name any?

Thanks wink.gif .

cryingsmiley.gif The TFIII cooler sounds like a jet engine at 100%....what is "super hot"?!? You don't just throw your sheet to 1200 and hope it works!

(have never tried but I'd guess mine would run mid 50s @ 950 but it is unbearable without in ear buds tongue.gif i would do it right now if my rma'd psu didn need rma'd)

I've heard people unlocking the card to 7970, if you don't care about the warranty than you should give it a shot. if you brick the bios just switch to the second bios and re-flash the bricked bios if you like.
