What when I try 1200mhz for core clock? I set my fan at 80%, and run GPU Tool, and goes up to 80C, and would still be going if I didn't turn it off lol. Once it reaches that, it becomes pixel mismatch.
But I'm happy with 1100/1600 core clock/memory clock (in mhz of course). When I tested 1075 or 1080/1575, I get average 73 FPS on Battlefield 3 maxed out (1080p, 4xMSAA). Temps are below 70C, too smile.gif . (EDIT: on auto fan setting also smile.gif ) .

Thanks wink.gif .

Nothing wrong with having that fan at 100%. It's all about getting that hardware cooled. If you want silent, go water, or you can always get headphones to drown out the jet engine turbine noise of reference coolers.

Nope, lol. Run it 100% 24/7 if you have to. biggrin.gif
You can make a custom fan profile in MSI Afterburner or Sapphire Trixx so that the fan speed ramps up as the temperature does. Figure out your max desired temp, and set the fan to 100% speed at that point. Then make lower speed entries on the chart to correspond with temperatures that you see at idle or light use; like 50% speed or whatever when it's at 20-30c. Up to you and your noise preference though.

Maybe if I buy an aftermarket cooler? Can you name any?
Thanks wink.gif .

The best aftermarket air cooler is Arctic Accelero Xtreme 7970 VGA cooler

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186064

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/arctic-accelero-xtreme-7970_5.html#sect1

HD 7970 (1140 Mhz) with Accelero Xtreme and max fan speed keeps the card at 59c. And it has amazing acoustics. even at full fan speed its quiet. But it costs USD 80. biggrin.gif

As for running the Twin Frozr at 100% fan its just not a good idea. You are better off reducing noise and giving up 50 Mhz. I think the perf diff you gain from 1150 to 1200 is not going to justify the noise increase.

I'm running 1100/1700 right now. Just make 100% when it goes over 70C...
Never goes over 65 right now biggrin.gif .

Sounds like a good balance of clock/temp/noise.
