H100 fans too slow

Is there a way to configure when the H100's fans go to high? I find it silly that they are not going high until CPU temp hits almost 90 C. I did push the button so it has all three lights lit.

Are those the stock fans that you are using?

How manu fans do you have on your H100?

Plugged into the pump.

2 stock fans pushing air across rad out the top of the case.

So, just now... I turned on Prime95 small. CPU temps go straight to the high 80's and the fans don't change. Several minutes later they finally sound like they're running faster, though still not as hard as the full on that I hear when I first turn on the machine.

Plug them into the molex. That's what I do for my H80. If you plug it into CPU or fan header, I don't think the button on the H100 works. Not too sure though.

Damn, I might need to check my H100 button..hrm. Have you inspected the thermal paste at all? As far as the stock fans go you are only running two, so you should rule out the button not working. By any chance you would happen to have a mid tower case with the GFX close to the CPU would you?

Also you might want to check your b I o s, make sure the board isnt taking ove.r fan speeds at certain temps or look into that.

What do you mean by molex? The fans are plugged into the water block part of the H100 as it indicates in the instructions.

Inspecting the thermal paste would require replacing it, right? So, I'm not in a position to do that at the moment.
I'm not sure what you mean about ruling out the button not working, but I don't think the button is completely ignored since I do think I hear a difference between the lowest and highest setting.

I have a mid tower case, but the graphics card is not particularly close to the CPU, though it can't be very far either. The graphics card is towards the bottom of the case and the CPU is towards the top. I have the Corsair 400R case.

I'm not sure what you're saying about checking the bios. I have set the bios fan settings to automatic, target level 9, target CPU temp 50 C, or where that is not an option, auto or full on maybe.

If you plugged fans directly into power like that, how could the H100 possibly control them since there would be no connection?

I sent a tech support request into Corsair yesterday. It will be interesting to see what they say. And, I found on another thread:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1220163/corsair-h100-overheating/20#post_16550022

I think I'll do that. I currently have the pump plugged into the CPU fan slot and a molex--it has both connectors coming from the pump.

I'm going to change the pump to go to the power fan, and the two fans I'll hook up to CPU fan 1 and CPU fan 2. I'm thinking that will work for now. It will bypass the H100's fan control, but it should give me proper response with the fans, I hope.

Try the other two plugs on the H100. If that doesn't solve the issue. Just plug the fans directly into the motherboard fan headers. Thanks
