But hey, people gotta complain about something right?

I think the other part of it is that some people hold MS to the whole "tick, tock" windows release scheme.

Windows 2000 = bad
Windows XP = good
Windows Vista = Big change/ "Horrible mess"
Windows 7 = "Greatest of all time!"
Windows 8/Metro = Very big change in how we use a computer/ "EPIC FAIL", "GARBAGE", "CLOSED OS", "UGLY", etc....

^ This does not equal my personal opinion of these OS's. I believe each was good in it's own right.

But this is how some uninformed(yes going out on a limb here) people are viewing it. Coupled with the talk they hear from others (like vista?), and maybe spending at most a day with the OS they come to the conclusion that it is a crap. They really can't move their eye past the Metro start menu and see all the other wonderful improvements! It's almost like they think MS can't make an even better OS without making a crap one first. In all actuality, what people see as the crap OS is just a stepping stone, something that users will get use to so that the next release( Windows 9) will be more accepted.

There are others who have probably spent a lot of time with the OS, and found that Metro is just something they can't comprehend, get use to, or accept. And that's fine! They can stick with Windows 7 until its EOL! In the end they will most likely just accept the next windows release after this without question.....

When I first started trying it, I really did not like it at all. After trying it all day, I'm a bit more comfortable with it. Is it a vast improvement or even an upgrade? No. Was it bad? No. Do I like the new lock screens? Yes.

It really does not feel any different than 7, besides Metro. If anything, it might've felt a bit snappier.

But hey, people gotta complain about something right?

When you actively spend a lot of time opening applications from the start menu, it does effect you quite a bit. Just because it doesn't really concern you with your usage habits, it doesn't mean that's universal.

I know I'm going to get infracted or reminded for large text, but I'm sick of seeing this crap. This goes for anyone who still believes it:
Stop pushing that "tick, tock" crap.

Windows 2000 was good, never bad (ME was bad), XP was bad at first, Vista was bad at first, 7 is good and Windows 8 is good apart from Metro. (IMO)

It really isn't, nearly everyone who was in the target market for Win2k loved it bar the lack of good DOS support.

Some people still do believe the tick, tock though. I've seen it in various posts and it is ridiculous! All I was trying to do is show another part to this whole debate where the uninformed are making these comments. It just goes to show that people will come up with the most ridiculous reason to hate on it.

IMO Learning a couple of keyboard shortcuts will be so much less a pain in the ass than having to learn a whole new OS, so for people in my position (minimal Linux experience) Win8 isn't such a worry. I'll install it on my 2nd machine to test if it works for me and go from there. It's been said over and over but, you don't have to buy Win8, stick to what works for you, don't stress, enjoy life thumb.gif

Warmonger said it all on page 4. Metro is being pushed because they're wanting to force their marketplace onto us. That's why thye've taken out the start menu and that's why they're being arrogant in letting us have it back.

Oh and I pretty much plan to never buy anything from Windows marketplace that was ever previously free. I hope it falls flat on its face.
