Haven't built a PC in a few years, need some advice

Hi!

So far I have looked at this setup (primarily used for gaming / photo editing / video processing work):

Intel i7 3930K
Asus Rampage IV Formula
G.Skill F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL Ripjaws Z 4x4Gb PC 12800/1600,CL 9-9-9-24,Voltage 1.5V DDR3
Zotac GTX 680 AMP! 2Gb DDR5
CORSAIR 850W CMPSU-850AXEU AX Professional Gold Series
Intel 520 Series 240Gb SSD
Seagate SATA III 1TB 7200RPM 16Mb 3.5Inch

DELL 23 Inch U2312HM LED IPS Size 23 inch
NOCTUA NH-D14 SE LGA 2011,fan 14cm, 2cm PWM Processor
Cooler Master 690 II Advanced (HDD Docking) RC-692-KWN2
Arctic Silver Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste

My number one problem is getting RAM where I live, pretty much impossible to find that specific G.Skill, so I have been also looking at:
[ ARES ] F3-1600C9Q-16GAB (anyone had any experience with this kit? I didn't even know G.Skill made ARES brand...)
[ ARES ] F3-1600C9Q-16GAO
Vengeance® Low Profile — 16GB Quad Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CML16GX3M4X1600C8)

Would appreciate any comments!
(...and let me know if I forgot something essential smile.gif ; it has been a few years since I built my last PC)

Thank you in advance!

^ if you can afford such rig then go for it, it has lot of cpu power for that video stuff if your dead serious about it, but for gaming it will be a waste especially if your on a budget

where do you live?

corsair makes great Ram as well (corsair vengeance)

680 is a great card but unless your going to be gaming hardcore with a many monitors at a high resolution its a bit overkill like xnuw said, id reccomend the 670 gtx instead.

i would go for a crucial m4 ssd instead of intel just cuz they are always on sale now so you can save some money

why would this be a waste for gaming?

hmmm, I don't really have a budget in mind, more like looking for a rig that will last around 2 years for all the gaming needs etc. I'm more worried about compatibility of everything, as the last time I built anything it was still socket-A time smile.gif

I live in Indonesia, hence a bit hard to get hold of some of the components.
For the card, I'm thinking of a 23'' Dell, hence the need for more power for higher res (I think ... )
For Corsair SSD, do you mean Corsair Force GT Series Sata III ? (they have those here, about 40-50 USD difference from the intel 520 for the 240 GB range.

Thank you!

I agree with this. I game on a 1920X1080 monitor which i believe the dell is and the 670 exceeds all of my needs and expectations *EVGA GTX 670 FTW*

I would consider a U2410 if I were you, and buying a good profiling/calibrating tool alongside it if you're going to be doing lots of photo/video work.

Ah ok, I was reading this before (http://www.anandtech.com/show/5508/intel-ssd-520-review-cherryville-brings-reliability-to-sandforce/9) that's what led me to choose Intel 520.
It is about 70 USD difference here between the Corsair and the Intel SSD; but Intel seems to have better performance.

But so far no one commented on the overall compatibility of all the components; so I am guessing hoping that everything will go together?

As far as compatibility, yes everything should work fine.

AS5 is overrated, though. Your PSU is also massively overkill.

What kind of RAM is easy to get, if any?
