EX240 vs phobya 200

Thread Starter
which one is better for wc/oc? are they close and somewhat equal?
A 200mm radiator is almost the same surface area as a 3x120 radiator. So aside from fan selection, a 200mm radiator should provide quite a bit more cooling capacity than a 2x120 radiator.

Really comes down to space. A 240 and a 200 have pretty different mounting requirements.

Totaly true, but also remember that the 200mm rad also has the FPI optimized for very low pressure fans. Since it looks like that you might have one of the Prodigies that I want so badly, can you please give us the dimensions of front, inside of the case? I've been wanting to pul a 2x2-120 (quad 120) rad, but it seems like it will very VERY close. I'll be doing a passive/silent WC build.

And a 200mm fan usually is far more quiet. But do they make Gentle Typhoons in 200mm? wink.gif

Kidding, I am also thinking about using a 200mm rad in the top of my Chaser MK I. I just don't know if it will fit. Would be a nice step up and a nice look as well.

The 60mm rad will have ~23% more surface area to dissipate heat. But it will need more powerful, louder fans with high pressure to force the air through. If you are going to just OC the processor, the 200 will be just fine. Hell, it'll be fine even with a decent GFX cards like the GTX 670.

IF you can please, whip out a ruler and measure the width and height of the front insides of the case please. Just let me know how many centimeters it is. If you willing to do a little drilling and dremel work, I think you might be able to fit a quad 120 rad in it....

*sigh* I need more money redface.gif

It's difficult to count thickness. A lot of the cooling capacity of the air is already lost once it cools the front water tubes.

I have about 150mm from the top of the case down to the top of AD2. I only have two short tube runs and not using a res.

Honestly when you start going below 1200 RPM, you tend to not see a huge difference in fan performance.

If you want PWM fans, I think those new cougar vortex fans seem to perform fairly well.

You could also get the high RPM PWM Gentle Typhoons, and mod them for PWM. Their PCBs support PWM, you just need to add the extra signalling wire.
