Thats all you needed to say. tongue.gif A single 670 would handle Total war games easily. I play at 2560x1440p and my single 570 does just fine.

The Total War games aren't all that GPU intensive. Most RTS games rely as much on the CPU as they do the GPU. I would still vote for the SLI 660ti setup if you want dual cards, because they are going to be the real bang for buck nVidia option coming up pretty soon.

Have you given any thought to AMD cards? A 7950 (or two) may be a good option, as well.

I agree that a single 680 or 670 would be better, with the way things have been going SLI is only really necessary for people pushing really high resolution's or you have the money to blow. Its better to sell that single card like a year from now and put it toward the next high end gpu.

That depends how good the next generation is. The 780 will be something like a 20% improvement over the 680, so SLI will probably be worth it.

Ok,just looked up the benchmarks for the 680 and 7970 for shogun2....and the settings were maxed accept for aa...aa wasn't even turned on and the 680 got 130 fps...
The 7970 got 113 fps....so not all the settings were maxed...now my question is what would be the fps be if AA was turned on and set to 8AA?....see what I'm sayn...I want to be able to play with ALL settings maxed......call me greedy ,but if I'm gona play then I want to be able to play to the max.....biggrin.gif

You could always use Catalyst Control Center or nVidia Control Panel to force 16x QCSAA or 32x CSAA. At that point, SLI or CF would probably become worth it at 1920 x 1080.

Oh....and the 7950 just one was 95 fps...humm....maybe I should just go with two of those and upgrade my mobo and CPU and call it a day...
Just scrap it all and go with a 6-Core Sandy Bridge, CD 7970s, and a Z77 motherboard. thumb.gif
